Ashley Wilburn is a native of Hagerstown in Maryland. She graduated from North Hagerstown High School where she completed her secondary education. Ashley Wilburn's legal career is centered around family law. She has a love for it. She concentrates her practice on divorce cases, alimony matters, marital property division fights over child custody and child support arrangements. She also handles the post-divorce and enforcement of issues such as step-parent adoptions and private adoptions for parties as well as concerns about child welfare. In addition to family law, Ashley also handles estate planning matters, including trusts, wills, probate, and estate administration, as well as commercial contracts, civil litigation cases. Ashley has been a mediator appointed by the court since the year. She helps parties resolve their disputes without the need for litigation or court involvement. In addition to mediations that are court-appointed, Ashley also mediates in private cases for individuals who would prefer to avoid the court process and litigation.
Ashley completed her undergraduate studies in History and Politics at Loyola University of Maryland. She then pursued her legal education at Western New England University School of Law. She graduated in 2013 and was ranked among the top 10 students of her class. While at law school, Ashley served as a Note Editor for the prestigious Western New England Law Review, showcasing her commitment to legal scholarship and research.
Following the completion of her law degree, Ashley embarked on a clerkship, working for prominent jurists in Connecticut and Maryland. She was fortunate to work as a law assistant to the Honorable Richard A. Robinson at the Connecticut Appellate Court and the Honorable Elliott D. Prescott. In 2014 she returned home to her hometown of Hagerstown to work as a clerk for the Honorable M. In 2015, Ashley joined the esteemed law firm of Poole & Kane, P.A. as an associate attorney. Her primary focus in the firm was to represent the Washington County Department of Social Services on cases involving child welfare. Through her dedicated efforts, Ashley played a vital role in assisting children who were victims of neglect or abuse at the from their parents or caregivers. Her dedication to fighting social injustice was not limited to her legal career when she was a member of the Washington County Human Trafficking Task Force. She worked tirelessly to educate the public about human trafficking within the tri-state region.
In 2017, she was a founding member of Kane, Wilburn & Stone, P.A., and began her practice in family law including divorce, custody guardianships, child maintenance and divorce and financial planning and estate planning – wills, trusts and powers of attorney, advance directives/healthcare proxy and mediation.
Ashley started Wilburn Law Office, LLC, 2023, with the aim of providing a personalized approach for every client's needs.
