THE BIO

Ashley Wilburn, a native of Hagerstown, Maryland, proudly is a graduate of North Hagerstown High School, where she completed her secondary education. Ashley Wilburn's law practice is focused on family law. She has a love for it. She concentrates a large portion of her work on divorce cases, alimony disputes, marital property distribution child custody battles child support arrangements, prenuptial and postnuptial agreements, enforcement and post-divorce issues such as step-parent or private party adoptions as well as concerns about child welfare. In addition to family law, Ashley also handles estate planning issues, such as probate, wills, trusts, and estate administration, in addition to commercial, contract, and civil litigation cases. Ashley has been as a mediator appointed by a court since the year she assists parties in helping them settle their disputes without need for litigation and court involvement. Ashley mediates private matters as well as court-appointed mediation for those who wish to avoid the court process and litigation.

Ashley completed her undergraduate studies in History and Politics at Loyola University of Maryland. She then pursued her legal education at Western New England University School of Law. She graduated in 2013 and was placed among the top 10 students in her class. During her time in law school, Ashley served as a Note Editor for the esteemed Western New England Law Review and demonstrated her dedication to legal scholarship and research.

Ashley began her clerkship path after completing her law degree. She worked for distinguished jurists from Connecticut and Maryland. She was privileged to serve as a law assistant to the Honorable Richard A. Robinson at the Connecticut Appellate Court and the Honorable Elliott D. Prescott. In 2014, she returned home to Hagerstown Maryland to serve as a law clerk for the Honorable M. Kenneth Long, Washington County Circuit Court. Ashley joined Poole & Kane P.A. in 2015 as an associate attorney. as an associate attorney. Her main responsibilities at the firm involved representing the Washington County Department of Social Services in cases concerning child welfare. Ashley's tireless efforts contributed greatly to helping children who suffered in the face of neglect or abuse at care of their parents or caregivers. Her dedication to social justice spanned beyond her legal profession as she actively served as an officer of the Washington County Human Trafficking Task Force and worked tirelessly to increase awareness of human trafficking in the tristate area.

In 2017, she became a founding member of Kane, Wilburn & Stone, P.A., where she developed her practice in the area of family law including divorce, child support, custody and guardianships - as well for estate planning, such as wills, trusts and powers of attorney, advance directives/healthcare proxy - and mediation.

Ashley started Wilburn Law Office, LLC, in 2023, with the goal of providing an individual approach to each client's requirements.
