THE BIO

Ashley Wilburn, a native of Hagerstown, Maryland, proudly comes from North Hagerstown High School, where she completed her secondary education. Ashley Wilburn's legal practice is centered around family law. She has a passion for it. She focuses her practice on divorce cases, alimony issues marital property division fights over child custody and child support arrangements. She also handles post-divorce enforcement and post-divorce issues including step-parent adoptions as well as private adoptions at parties as and concerns regarding child welfare. In addition to family law, Ashley also handles estate planning matters, including probate, wills, trusts, and estate administration, along with commercial contracts, civil litigation cases. Ashley has been a mediator appointed by the court since the year 2019. She helps parties resolve their disputes without the need for litigation or court involvement. Ashley mediates private matters and also court-appointed mediation for those who wish to avoid litigation and court processes.

After having completed her undergraduate studies at Loyola University of Maryland, where she received dual Bachelor's degrees in History and Political Science, Ashley pursued her legal education at Western New England University School of Law. She graduated in 2013 and was placed among the top 10 students of her class. Ashley was an editor at the Western New England Law Review during her time in law school. This was a sign of her dedication to legal research and scholarship.

Ashley began her clerkship career after she completed her law degree. She worked for renowned jurists from Connecticut and Maryland. She had the honor of being a law assistant for the Honorable Richard A. Robinson and the Honorable Elliott D. Prescott at the Connecticut Appellate Court. Subsequently, in 2014, she returned to her hometown of Hagerstown to work as a clerk for the Honorable M. Kenneth Long at the Washington County Circuit Court, expanding her knowledge of the local legal landscape. Learn more about Ashley Wilburn

Ashley joined Poole & Kane P.A. in 2015 as an associate attorney. as an associate attorney. Her primary focus in the firm was to represent the Washington County Department of Social Services on cases which involved child welfare. Ashley's dedication to her work played a significant role in helping children who suffered in the face of neglect or abuse at care of their parents or caregivers. Her commitment to social justice spanned far beyond the realm of law and she was active as a board member for the Washington County Human Trafficking Task Force working tirelessly to increase awareness of human trafficking in the tristate area.

In 2017 she was a founding member at Kane, Wilburn & Stone, P.A., and developed her expertise in family law - divorce, custody and child maintenance, as well as guardianships and estate and financial planning – wills, trusts, power of attorney, advance directives/healthcare proxies – and mediation.

Ashley established Wilburn Law Office, LLC 2023, with the aim of providing an individual approach to each client's need.
