THE BIO

Ashley Wilburn is a native of Hagerstown in Maryland. She graduated from North Hagerstown High School where she received her secondary education. With a deep passion for family law, Ashley's current legal practice focuses on various aspects of family-related matters. She focuses a majority of her work on divorce cases, alimony disputes the distribution of marital property child custody battles child support arrangements, postnuptial and prenuptial agreements, enforcement and post-divorce issues including step-parent and private parties adoptions as well as issues involving children's welfare. Ashley has been as a mediator appointed by the court since the year 2019 she assists parties in helping them resolve their matters without needing to litigate or court involvement. In addition to court-appointed mediation, Ashley also mediates in private cases for those who would like to avoid the court process and litigation.

Ashley completed her undergraduate studies in History and Politics at Loyola University of Maryland. Then, she pursued her legal education at Western New England University School of Law. She graduated in 2013 and was ranked among the top 10 students in her class. During her time in law school, Ashley served as a Note Editor for the esteemed Western New England Law Review and demonstrated her dedication to legal research and scholarship.

Ashley began her clerkship path after completing her law degree. She worked for notable jurists from Connecticut and Maryland. She was fortunate enough to serve as a law assistant to the Honorable Richard A. Robinson at the Connecticut Appellate Court and the Honorable Elliott D. Prescott. In 2014, she returned to Hagerstown, Maryland, to serve as an attorney for the Honorable M. Kenneth Long, Washington County Circuit Court. In 2015, Ashley joined the esteemed law firm of Poole & Kane, P.A. As an associate attorney. The primary goal of the firm was to represent the Washington County Department of Social Services in matters dealing with child welfare. Through her dedication, Ashley played a vital role in helping children who were victims of neglect or abuse at the from their parents or caregivers. Her commitment to social injustice was not limited to her legal career when she was a member of the Washington County Human Trafficking Task Force. She was a tireless worker to raise awareness regarding human trafficking in the tri-state region.

In 2017, she was a founding member of Kane, Wilburn & Stone, P.A., and developed her expertise in family law including divorce, custody and child maintenance, as well as guardianships and financial and estate planning - wills, trusts and powers of attorney, advance directives/healthcare proxy – and mediation.

Ashley founded Wilburn Law Office, LLC in 2023. The company was founded with the goal of providing an individual approach to each client's requirements.
